In this class educators will learn through psychoeducation and case examples what addiction is and is not, how addiction affects the brain, underlying emotions that perpetuate addiction/increase risk, and tools for recovery from addiction. Understanding what addiction is will give educators better tools for dealing with individuals suffering from addiction.

Heather Schauers is a therapist working at Successful Therapy in Lindon and LDS Family Services in Provo. She graduated from BYU with her Masters of Social Work degree in 2011, and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker for the State of Utah.
