School Counselor/Lead Secondary District Counselor

KarriAnn Raddon has worked in education for 23 years! She has dedicated her entire educational career to addressing the needs of the whole student both in the classroom and in her counseling office. KarriAnn worked as a (Social Studies) classroom teacher for 17 years in grades 7-12 and for the past 6 years KarriAnn has worked as a school counselor at Canyon View High School in Cedar City, Utah. In her capacity as a counselor, she saw, first hand, a real need to address the Social and Emotional wellness of her students. So in 2018, KarriAnn and her team launched a ‘Tapping to Wellness’ program at CVHS, securing a grant to put Bi-Lateral tappers in classrooms throughout her school. These tappers are credited with helping students regulate their emotional response to stress, which ultimately improves academics and overall emotional wellness. In the 2019-2020 school year KarriAnn and her counseling department were awarded ‘Team of the Year’ from Iron County School District for their efforts in trauma-informed care and in 2019 KarriAnn was awarded Cedar City Chamber of Commerce's Educator of the Year due to her efforts in hosting a community event featuring Elizabeth Smart- speaking about her journey on Healing from Trauma. KarriAnn is happy to be at this conference and can’t wait to share some of the remarkable strategies that have helped her team address the social and emotional wellness needs of the students in her school!
